We started our final day at the NAMI Convention in some great workshops. Below is Dr. Ken Duckworth during his workshop, telling us about the NAMI Hearts and Minds program that he developed.
After a morning of workshops, we sat in on the Annual NAMI National Board Meeting, where we heard a State of the Alliance address from the Board President Dr. Stephen Feinstein and we met our newly elected board members.
The new board members are: Moe Armstrong, Lynda Jensen, Clarence Jordan, Ron Morton, Clarice Raichel and Kevin Sullivan.
After the Annual Meeting, we were fortunate to have lunch with NAMI icon Joyce Burland (pictured below, seated), founder of the award-winning and life-changing Family-to-Family program.
This evening, we went to the "grand finale" of the NAMI Convention, which is the annual banquet. There we are, pictured below, seated at the table on the right.
During dinner, NAMI gave awards to members of the media across the country who made a significant difference in the field of mental illness, including one of our favorites Minds on the Edge. We were entertained by Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Nancy McKeown, an Irish artist who performed live throughout the banquet.
Tomorrow morning, we are headed back to Pittsburgh to continue our work at NAMI Southwestern Pennsylvania.
